My Thoughts on NIL

My thoughts on NIL are this. Although it sounds good to be able to purchase the best players, I don’t think that it is sustainable nor does it make for a cohesive football team as we have witnessed at Texas A&M and Miami. It just builds resentment on the team when new players get million dollar contracts whereas older established stars get little to nothing. Football is a team sport with 85 players pursuing the same goals.
Actually I think OSU is on the right path with NIL although I would like them to pay all their existing players from their new B10 media contract a revenue sharing amount (say $200k). It is not fair that certain less glamorous position players receive all the NIL money. Star players could still earn more money from advertisers but all players still benefit from NIL. Being that the B10 has the largest TV contract puts us in a great position to get great players even if they are not the Patrick Mahomes etc of the college world. You may pay $1m for a star player only for them to suffer a career ending injury on their first play in pads.

Football All-America Tracker

Will keep track of where Ohio State's guys land on All-America teams here. A reminder that a player gets a tree in Buckeye Grove for getting the first-team nod from any "reputable" organization. That includes orgs like the Associated Press, FWAA, Walter Camp, Sporting News and AFCA (those are the five that determine consensus/unanimous distinctions). But I think getting a nod from a place like CBS Sports, ESPN or The Athletic would be enough to get a tree. I'm not sure if a PFF nod would get someone a tree.

Knowledge Skill Attitude... ATTITUDE is always the key

I’ve been taught and learned it to be true In any aspect of life ..we can not always control circumstances... but ... we CAN always control our attitude toward ANY challenge... certainly many challenges are piling up against the team and the coaches ... TWO preseason Heisman contenders have been sidelined for most of the season .. JSN and Henderson... one such loss would cripple any team ... we lost badly for the 2nd year in a row to our bitter rival and are receiving ridicule for the mental toughness of the team and especially the coaching that is probably justified....NOW there are questions about recruiting and NIL effectiveness.... on top of all that we are getting ready to play the no 1 team for the past 2 years in their back yard ..... certainly cause to believe we might be on an huge downturn and will get smacked by Georgia...odds say we will .....and if the team accepts that it will happen......the ONLY WAY to avoid this is to NOT ACCEPT that outcome..... starts with ATTITUDE....not JUST SAYING the positive words ... although that’s a good start ..and not just reciting the company line so others hear it ... but REALLY having the right ATTITUDE ... that is always to control yourself and what YOU DO in difficult times against challenges... and that is to focus on not performing in FEAR BUT IN CONFIDENCE that if you REALLY do your best ... not just say you did ...that’s all you can control and that is fine .. and never giving up until time is gone in the game ... no matter what is happening during the game. ....as Belichick would say DO YOUR JOB and Urban would say ...total focus for 6 or 7 seconds EVERY PLAY...that is usually more than the opponent will do ... don’t be the opponent that doesn’t........ none of this is NEW advice ... everyone knows what the magic words are ... lol ... the difference always come from the team that stops the pity party, excuses and stupid mistakes due to out of control emotions AND puts in the really hard work and preparation THEN .... just go DO IT ...every play... we all know the team that does that most consistently will win .... not necessarily the team with the most 5 stars ... that is proven every time any team is upset .... Tressel helped the team get there against unbeatable Miami and Urban did against Bama. ..just to name 2 of our favorite examples...Day has a huge challenge OR opportunity ... it’s up to the team to fight to find the attitude they must have .... it can be a huge burden OR a enormous blessing they can have for the rest of their life. I LOVE watching this real life experience play out in sports in a single game like this ... I am PUMPED to see the Buckeyes dig deep and find the attitude against all the negative things they seem to be facing ... look what the 2014 TEAM did with their 3rd QB... this is why we all are so involved... it’s GREAT ...please GO BUCKS Git er dun lol
