Ryan day

All of you guys on here that think Ryan Day should be fired/replaced by Mike Vrabel are absolute clowns talk about overreacting he has a 45-5 record and the only reason everyone is so mad about it is because they may not make the playoffs but that won’t matter in future years because it is expanding in 2024 and it will help take pressure off the team and head coach by not having to be perfect every single week

Michigan is a better team…

After these last two losses to Michigan, basically all of the attention and panic has been directed at what is wrong with Ohio State and Ryan Day. Very little attention has been focused on what may be right with Michigan. I’ve been of the opinion that after almost getting fired and overhauling his staff, Harbaugh’s last two teams are significantly better than what we are used to seeing. And more importantly, a lot better coached.

Listening to Zach Smith today he was pretty adamant about this same point and went over some stats that supported it. Michigan has always had very good defenses, but their offensive production during Urban Meyer’s tenure was often no where near what it is today.

Obviously that’s not to say we shouldn’t be beating them, and there’s clearly issues that need to be addressed in the program. But at the same time, Urban Meyer was just not facing the same caliber of team that we have the past two years. I have a feeling that the rivalry is going to continue to be competitive as long as Jimmy doesn’t try and bolt to the NFL.

Rewatch of UM Scoring Plays

First 18 plays went for about 65 yards, two three and outs, a FG.

3rd and about 9. Cover zero. Pressure was coming unabated. Looks like the pressure was good enough that McCarthy did not see the slot running free after the defender slipped and fell. Brown had his back to the sideline, so, when the pass went out, he had to turn a 360 to get back on the play. Came in awkwardly and missed the tackle. TD. One play goes for more than the first 18.

Very next possession, first play, we're in something like a three high shell. Martinez drifts toward the sideline, perhaps thinking that the motion was his responsibility. He is out of position and off balance when the receiver crosses his face. He wouldn't have been in a worse position if he was in the locker room. Second play that went for more than the first 18.

They finish the half with tow more 3 and Outs.

45 yard TD was some weird goof (or a genius ruse?). Receivers crossed, one falling down. The DBs seemed to float away. The upright receiver goes long uncovered. QB finds him.

Both runs we had numbers and just blew gap fits, rushing up to the line pell mell and getting caught in the wash.

We didn't get pushed around and the success of those plays was not because we got outcoached. The players made mistakes and Michigan executed.

Postseason Expansion

With yesterday's news about playoff expansion, and @Birm's request on the podcast for topics/ideas - I would be interested in a debate between both sides (in favor of CFP expansion, and against) on the pod.

There's a lot of Twitter back and forth between industry leaders and media that are pro, and anti, playoff expansion. Obviously it's happening and is all about the $$$, but I am more of a traditional CFB purist and think it will water down some of what I love about CFB - the importance of the regular season, the pageantry of rivalry games (i.e. OSU/Michigan last week) and bowl games. Yes, I understand a lot of what I love about CFB has changed in the last three years and I still can't get enough of it.

Lots of #takes out there... what say you?

The story behind Luke Montgomery's 'dead period' in-home visit

As many of you know, Twitter was in an uproar over Day doing an in-home visit during the dead period. Here is the story behind it.

CJ stroud postgame comments

I was wondering how everyone was feeling about CJ saying during the post game press conference that this game doesn’t define this team. Honestly I hated that comment. This was the biggest game of the year. Got blasted last year. All off season pushing the toughness narrative etc. This game defines your career as a buckeye. Troy smith put those osu teams on him back against Michigan. Fields got injured came back and threw a strike for a TD soon as he got back in. I wanted a pissed off qb post game. I know he cares. I know he’s a great kid. But to say Thee game doesn’t define this team is simply false. Love you guys. Go bucks!!

NFL Mock Draft- is there ANY slim chance JSN comes back?

Dane’s usually pretty good with a pulse on the league. He’s got JSN #29. (And stroud 5, Paris 7)

I don’t think it’s ludicrous to think he could come back and re-establish his deserved top 10 value.

I know it’s not likely. But figured I might as well
ask. The culture of that room is certainly unique and we saw it with Chris last season…. And it certainly seems like he’s the most immediately NFL- ready rookie WR!
