I will say this right now.... Day needs to hire Urban as a consultant to be his right hand man....

Day is close on things, but Urban is the truth.... He is brutually honest, and will tell it how it is, He knows what a championship team looks like in all units..... Day if he wants to survivie, needs to bring in help.... There are weaknesses that Urban would never tolerate and he needs someone who has the truth to tell it how it is.... In all phases...

Stroud

Didn’t make a playoff and didn’t beat Michigan. Shouldn’t even be in New York for any Heisman discussions honestly. He isn’t that type of QB that puts his team on his back and does whatever it takes to win. No more Cali 7 on 7 QBs. Get back to having an identity with running the ball downhill and throwing vertical out of play action. I’m excited to see what McCord can do next season and I think he should start the bowl game. Day seems to have no identity and runs an offense that makes things way harder than they need to be, but that’s a whole different discussion. Ready to move on from Stroud. I don’t think this team is soft, but the leader under center is.

Time for new blood in S&C ?

I am of the mind that the program would benefit from a reboot in strength & conditioning.

Some support for my position:

1. Soft tissue injuries. JSN, Michael Hall Jr, Miyan Williams, Treveyon Henderson, Jordan Hancock, Cam Brown, Denzel Burke, Josh Proctor. Far too many skill guys are getting/aggravating soft tissue stuff on and off the field.

2. Not seeing consistent physical development from DL. Do Jack Sawyer, Tyleik Williams, Ty Hamilton, JJB or Taron Vincent look any different or more explosive than the day they arrived on campus. Do they seem twitched up or capable of converting speed to power on the rush?

3. Off-season program. We're now two seasons into an era where the physical toughness of the team is a question that comes up frequently and they have lost the mental edge to their rival for the first time in 20 years. After a while it's just time for a new message and new tone during the offseason. The Quick Cals, the "It is time!" stuff just feels old and stale.

Will Brian Hartline be here next year ? (Zach Smith thoughts -rumors )

Watching Zach Smith on YouTube , he mentioned he’s heard that Texas A&M is going to throw the bag at Hartline to become their offensive coordinator. He also said he expects Cincinnati to make a run hiring Hartline as new head coach..

Said he also expects Fleming to Transfer … As far as Ryan Day he said play calling/ scheming is not remotely an issue at Ohio State . Also said it’s absolutely preposterous that Day has ever don’t Stroud to not run . Also alluded to friction between CJ and Day , because how intense Day coaches . Also mentioned that the blocking by receivers this season has been a glaring issue , also receivers other than Marv were not getting open against man .

Lastly , he said the biggest recruiting job for
Ohio state will be convincing Tyleek and Hall to not transfer 😳

Tale of Two Seasons

Curious for perspective from @AustinWard @Bill Landis and @Birm on what the heck happened on the bye week. Birm mentioned this postgame but it’s something I have been scratching my head about since October as well. This team was playing as well as anyone through the first 7 weeks of the season. Week 8 they play Iowa and the cracks start to show, and to me it’s been downhill from there. I really cannot wrap my mind around what happened with this team because they’ve (seemingly) played completely differently in the last 6 games compared to their first 6. Maybe it was teams getting more film on them. Maybe it was a shift in practice habits (I remember a lot of talk about the physicality of practices earlier on in the year). I know we had injuries too and maybe that explains it. Or maybe it’s all of the above and I’m just moving through the stages of grief. Regardless, it’s something I’m not gonna understand for a long long time, if ever.

Playoffs or No Playoffs??

Do you want to see Ohio State in the playoffs?

  • Yes

  • No

Results are only viewable after voting.

Depending on what happens next weekend there is a pretty decent chance Ohio State still makes the playoffs.

I’ve been surprised at how many fans and local media have said they don’t want to see that or they don’t “deserve” to be there. Why not? Because of one bad half of football?? Or more accurately, one really bad quarter of football? It was ugly and embarrassing, but to just say “no thanks” to the playoffs doesn’t make sense to me. And I cannot fathom the team having that mentality. If they do, our program is in way worse shape than I thought.

Do people not remember the SEC Championship last year when Alabama smoked Georgia 41-24?? Should Georgia have just said “no thanks” to the playoffs?? I just don’t get it.

Not more more to be said. I agree with pretty much everything said. Birm I can’t make myself rewatch it either.
1. Ryan Day needs to do some soul searching with play calling and personnel decisions but should not be fired this off-season, please stop. Let’s see what he does this off-season.
2. Some of the garbage spewed by OSU “fans” is beyond ugly and does hurt the image of the program. Be hurt. Be mad. Don’t be Beth Dutton (from Yellowstone) and have an ounce of impulse control.
3. If this season was built around one player (JSN) shame on the coach and shame on him for not adjusting sooner and better. You should not build your offense around one WR for many reasons. Take what the defense gives you.
4. By far the worst game Knowels called all season. Very confusing.
5. NIL and new portal rules have bastardized college football. It’s very disappointing. For those of you clamoring for it, to quote Wyatt Earp in Tombstone “…you called down the thunder, well now you’ve got it!”

Thanks for the show! Too bad it wasn’t under better circumstances. I’ll try to think of some off-season ideas for the show. GO BUCKS!

It is this kind of bullshit that also clogs the courts.
