Film Don't Lie - breakdown of OSU from UGASports.com

Good morning! My name is Brent Rollins and I write and do film/X&O breakdowns for UGASports.com, the UGA Rivals site, on YouTube. I also work part-time for Pro Football Focus.

A colleague (Dayne Young) and I do these weekly looking at the UGA game and/or potential upcoming opponents.

Going to be a fun matchup! I'm from WV originally and actually went to school at Ohio Northern, so know a lot of Buckeye fans. By all means, ask my anything about the matchup. Thanks!

Here is the link for the 3-part series we posted last night in advance of the Peach Bowl. Two videos focusing on the OSU offense and one on their defense.

If for some reason you can't access, it is also on our site's YT Channel:

Pollyanna Commit Appreciation Post

I hear that the sky is falling and I've gone through my panic cycle but after watching Matayo and especially Bowen ditch all principles and BS about "relationships" I've embraced a pretty peaceful feeling of appreciation for the guys who actually did keep their word. Yep, Ohio State is behind in the bag game and it seems that we're still insisting on playing by rules no matter how unenforceable they are. But I'm thinking of a post @Keith7456 made last week bumping a sentiment about appreciation for the guys who are choosing to sign not because of NIL but in spite of NIL. Most of us are Buckeyes by birth. These guys are Buckeyes by choice. I'm not going to spend the rest of NSD whining about flips or might have beens. I'm gonna celebrate and appreciate the guys who want to be here, the ones who chose us.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Landis

@Bill Landis and his wife will be welcoming their first child later this month, as officially announced on THE Podcast Daily today. Congratulations Bill! Hoping for a smooth last month and easy delivery (as much as they can be coming from a guy - ha).
Having a child is the most amazing, life changing and rewarding experience you’ll ever have. You’ll have to let us know if it’s a boy or a girl when the time comes. Best wishes, congrats and good health to mom and baby!!

Oh and is Jeremy (feels weird to type) trying to convince you Birm could make a nice middle name for a boy or a girl? 😂

New hire expectationz

I’ve been thinking about this (and trying to kill time before tomorrow). What were people’s expectations with the new hires in regards to coaching and recruiting? To my eye, it seems like people had a pretty high bar for Frye / Knowles / Walton / Elliano to clear on both fronts. My thoughts are basically centered around the ideas that the 2023 season / 2025 recruiting class is really the year that you can start to fairly evaluate how good they are as coaches and recruiters. Am I crazy? Should I have had higher expectations for this year? It seems like there was definite improvement on the defensive side and I think next year will be even better.

Class of 25 QBs

Ryan Day has proven he can land the nation's top QB from anywhere - CA, UT, TX, PA.

That said, the class of 25 QBs is pretty interesting geographically. While the top QBs in most cycles are CA/TX/GA heavy, the class of 25 has quite a few top QBs within driving distance to Columbus.

I didn't find Rivals' 2025 rankings, so I used 247. The exact ranking doesn't mean everything at this point, it's just indicative of how many top guys are in the area. Ryan Day will have his pick of the litter.

247 QB Rankings
QB1 Bryce Underwood - Belleville, MI
QB2 George MacIntyre - Brentwood, TN
QB4 Cutter Boley - Lexington, KY
N/A Ryan Montgomery - Findlay, OH
N/A Tavien St Clair - Bellefontaine, OH

Something is going on.

All of the recent recruiting events are pretty strange. Strange enough that I think something decently big is going to happen right after the playoff run is over.

Apparently Dylan notified TOSU of de commitment about a week ago…. And everyone held this info tight. Maybe coach day let Dylan know about the news so he wasn’t blind sided…

Should be interesting…. Good or bad

What would this recruiting class be without Brian Hartline?

I used 247’s Class calculator. I pulled out Innis, Tate and Rogers. Kept Bryson Rodgers, added reasonable enough WR targets in a theoretical world without Hartline; Rico Flores (seemed to fit with OSU regardless), Anthony Brown (ohio kid), Rodney Gallagher (Pennsylvania kid, WVU commit) and then I added Josh Mickens for this excercise assuming we’re not getting Damon or Matayo.

The final result? 274.08 class score. Assuming no other programs add anything between now and NSD( which is unrealistic)… that’d be good for the 12th best class; one spot ahead of Penn State.
