NIL/ Transfer Portal Rant

So I don't post a lot on here. I usually just enjoy the reading of everyone's perspectives, so forgive me if this goes astray and seems scattered. I absolutely hate the NIL and transfer portal. I'm sure that I am in the minority, but I think OSU is doing it the right way and wouldnt change a thing (other than not having it at all). If the student athletes do well and want to get paid then ok. But not just a pay to play deal out of high school. I think sooner than later this thing will fade and these boosters and schools will get tired of giving money to underserving, underachieving athletes who haven't proven anything and at the first sign of adversity leave to try and go somewhere else, instead of putting for the effort to make it better.. If OSU can build a more sense of brotherhood and playing for each other rather than just themselves they will be ahead of the curve. Look how it worked out for A&M this year. I dont like Bama at all probably for jealousy reasons, but they have been the best program for a while and one year into the transfer portal it is tearing the team apart. That is what will happen to all of the teams that are trying to buy a championship. Imagine this fanbase if that happened here. We freak out if we lose a single recruit, imagine a mass exodus after a year or two, it would be a total meltdown. I may be old school, but I say build it the right way and if we dont go 12-0 so be it but I think when it comes around we will be better off. I apologize if this makes no sense and rambles but I don't like the way college football is going. Maybe it is just my age "get off my lawn"

Keenan Bailey

I didn’t want to start a new thread but ultimately couldn’t decide where to drop this so here we are.

@Birm, @AustinWard, @Bill Landis (and any DTE subs really), what is it about Keenan Bailey that has him so highly regarded. He seems to be well thought of inside and outside the WHAC. I know recruits and players love him. What is it that has helped his rise in the program? I hear dynamic recruiter and things like that. What does that actually mean?

Admittedly I need to google his playing career and experience prior to Ohio State. How does he do what he does? Why does it resonate? If a full-time position spot is in his future, does his ability to connect with recruits translate to being a teacher of the game/coach? What do you guys see that is fans don’t get to? These aren’t to question if he’s the right guy, he clearly seems to be special, just trying to learn more about him.

Maybe you can do a Tom Rinaldi like special on him. Just don’t make us all cry at the end. 😂

Breaking News Jaxon Smith-Njigba is OUT for Peach Bowl

From Ohio State:

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the record-setting wide receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes, will not play in the 2022 Chic-fil-A Peach Bowl. The junior from Rockwall, Texas, will instead continue to rehabilitate a season-long injury while also preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Head coach Ryan Day: “I want to thank Jaxon for all he has done for our Ohio State program. He has had such a major impact here in Columbus, on and off the field, in a relatively short period of time. We all know he has a very bright future ahead of him and we all support him as he moves forward with his career.”

Smith-Njigba came into the 2022 season as arguably the best wide receiver in the nation coming off a 2021 campaign when he set Ohio State records for receptions (95) and receiving yards (1,606). His yardage total broke a 20-year-old Big Ten Conference record. Smith-Njigba set an all-time bowl game record with 347 receiving yards in the 2022 Rose Bowl against Utah. He also broke the Rose Bowl record with 15 receptions and tied the game record with three touchdowns.

He played in three games this season for Ohio State, the last coming Oct. 22 vs. Iowa.
