...this is where Doug Lesmerises belongs. Because it is certifiably insane to say that Ryan Day will be retained at the end of 2024 with another loss to Michigan. There's no scenario in which he loses to Michigan and wins a B1G or national championship, because if they lose that game this year, at home, with this collection of talent, then it's abundantly clear that this team is not good enough to accomplish either of those things and that Ryan Day does not have a ****ing clue what he is doing.

If Ryan Day loses to Michigan this year, he will be fired. There is no other possible outcome.

The Big Changes to College Sports

Feels like the pending NCAA settlement of the player antitrust cases is likely the beginning of the Big Changes we've been waiting for since uncapped NIL went live in 2021 (and free transfer followed shortly thereafter).

While I realize it's not all that exciting, it feels like we may be arriving at some of the outcomes (and ultimately stability) of the big shakeup. Sounds the NCAA is going to take a big hit (between $2 billion and $20 billion) which will be spread across the athletic programs over the next 10 years. It sounds like the salary cap, as currently proposed, would sit somewhere between $20 million and $30 million (though that's contingent on countless factors, and I'm not clear if its across all sports).

Last week, Ross Dellenger wrote, "Industry leaders describe the next two weeks as, perhaps, the most consequential in college athletics history."

Today’s (5/21) Podcast Daily

Wanted to note that many of the concerns expressed by Birm and Austin with Wrigley Field have been fixed in the past 5-10 years. They have used both end zones for years now (after the stadium was updated). There havent been any weird injuries or anything in many years—and they play games almost annually there now. In fact, Soldier Field’s turf might be more dangerous than Wrigley Field’s.

Just wanted to share as I know how OSU fans can run with things, and a lot of what was said about Wrigley was pretty outdated.

I, for one, am very excited for the game. Not that it doesn’t have issues for a major college football game (e.g., size of stadium), but it’s not nearly as bad as you made it sound.

#STUFF On the road today …

Watched Will Conroy work out this morning at St Ignatius and stopped by Avon Lake to see Max Riley. Will head to Akron Hoban from here for their showcase day before finishing the day at Massillon tonight.

Really impressed by the maturity and approach by both Conroy and Riley.

Justin Frye also making the NE Ohio circuit today, fwiw.

2025 Ohio commit vibes

Kind of along the vein of some of the discussions on the threads, I looked at the 247 composite rankings for Ohio. The list follows - I’m interested to know how people are feeling about each kid ending up at OSU.:

Tavien St Clair
Tre McNutt
Carter Lowe
Bo Jackson
Dawayne Galloway
Justin Hill
Marquis Davis
Ryan Montgomery
Cedric Works
Luka Gilbert
Quinton Simmons
Jamier Scott
Dante McClellan

These are my guesses:
Tavien St Clair 100%
Tre McNutt. 40%
Carter Lowe. 100%
Bo Jackson. 30%
Dawayne Galloway. 5%
Justin Hill 60%
Marquis Davis 0%
Ryan Montgomery. 0%
Cedric Works. Who knows?
Luka Gilbert. 10%
Quinton Simmons 0%
Jamier Scott. 0%
Dante McClellan. 40%

Agree? Disagree? To my eye it looks like a lot of the “top” talent is leaving the state this year. Which is fine so long as they keep the kids they currently have.
