Bucks lead the nation with 11 Athlon’s All-Americans
First-team selections include Pat Elflein, Taylor Decker, Joey Bosa and Ezekiel Elliott
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Athlon Sports released its preseason All-America teams today and, once again, Ohio State leads the nation in total honorees with 11 players listed among its four teams. Ohio State also led in total number of preseason All-Americans on lists previously released by The Sporting News and Phil Steele.
The Athlon Sports’ preseason All-America team includes four Buckeyes on the first team: defensive end Joey Bosa, running back Ezekiel Elliott, left tackle Taylor Decker and offensive guard Pat Elflein. Bosa and Elliott are on their third preseason first team while Decker made his second. Elflein is a first-team preseason All-America for the first time this year.
The second-team defense features sophomore cornerback Eli Apple, who is making his first preseason All-American team, along with sophomore linebacker Darron Lee and junior safety Vonn Bell. The third team defense includes senior tackle Adolphus Washington and senior linebacker Joshua Perry.
Third-team specialists include Jalin Marshall as a punt returner and the fourth-team offense includes junior quarterback Cardale Jones.
The additions of Apple and Perry on preseason All-America teams gives Ohio State 11 different preseason All-Americans so far this year.
