When Bush W was re-elected POTUS in 2005 he attempted to reform Social Security and got roasted by the media. His proposal was to allow people an option of investing up to 16% of their SS deposits into the stock market.
Since then the DOW is way up.
Was at 10,790 in Feb 2005, now at 28,700.
NASDAQ was at 2500, now at 9,250.
S & P was at 1,180, now at 3,250
SS deposits actually lost value because of inflation.
Imagine how much better off everyone would be if W had got his plan approved and put in place.
