I was going to wait and post this when we released the film from Friday's scrimmage, but our video team told me this morning there was not enough to do a video feature on Cameron Martinez. It was a pre-season scrimmage and Muskegon obviously was trying to make sure the reigning Michigan HS player of the year stayed healthy going into the opener, but Martinez did take about 20 snaps against each school and there were some read options in there where he was able to break out for a handful of runs on the day.

Martinez is not as explosive as Mookie Cooper, and that accounts for much of the difference in their ratings. Cam is a smart football player, though, and that intelligence is part of what makes him a great HS quarterback. He is not a FBS caliber quarterback. He throws a decent ball and you could see something where he is used on a gimmick play to throw the ball in a game, but he doesn't possess the necessary arm strength or accuracy to play the position for a program like Ohio State. He is a very solid athlete, though, with a high floor because of that football IQ and versatility.
