spoke to the rarely heard from Second Wiseman of OSU football, and he weighed in with a lengthy report...

"So Ohio State already has one guy committed in 2017 for running back in Todd Sibley, but they have no intention on settling with just one running back. The Buckeyes are looking to take two guys at tailback in 2017 and there's six guys that have really caught their eyes recently. Five of those guys are the top five running backs in America according to Rivals rankings and the sixth is blowing up in a major way.

After casting the net, these are the fish that are "biting"...

1. Najee Harris: There is not a better running back in America than Najee Harris and maybe not a better skill position player - including studs like Trevon Grimes. This is a guy from out on the West Coast - Antioch (Cal.) - that has offers from all of the big boys. Bama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, and UCLA all want this guy badly and although he committed to Alabama early on in the process, that's far from a done deal. He's taken visits to the California schools since then and intends to keep on looking around. In fact, the Buckeyes in particular have caught his eye. He's been talking with members of the Ohio State staff "every single day"---interest is extremely high, to put it mildly.

This is a big time back with excellent size at 6-foot-2 and 222 pounds and an athleticism and fluidity at that size that is hard to believe. Always falls forward and has excellent vision. Somewhere between Ezekiel Elliott and Carlos Hyde for my money

2 and 3 are both shiftier backs with a little more wiggle to their game than most guys on the board. D'Andre Swift out of Philadelphia isn't exactly a "mighty mite" at 208 pounds, but he's got some very serious burst and quickness and Ohio State has been keeping a close eye on him all season. He has shades of another Pennsylvania stud running back to his game - "Shady" McCoy. He was one of the few underclassmen to make an impact at the Rivals Five Star Challenge, right alongside the number 3 guy: Khalan Laborn. Laborn doesn't have too much experience running between the tackles, he spends a lot of time in the H-back role and his closest comparison on the Buckeye roster would be Curtis Samuel or Jalin Marshall. Quick twitch athlete who's deadly with the ball in his hands in space. Whether he ends up at running back or H-back is relatively unimportant, because that is a stud you just get on the team and figure out later.

4 and 5 are both big workhorse backs. Everyone on your board should be very familiar with Trey Sermon out of Georgia big upright runner with more burst than you would expect. Big, powerful strides and very hard to bring down in the second level) but the country's 4th ranked running back is a newcomer to Ohio State's target list: Toneil Carter. Carter is a big, strong kid and a classic bellcow out of Texas - Houston to be particular. Ohio State has been in contact and trying to work out a visit and he's a very similar back to Sermon. They really like both of these guys.

The 6th is a relative unknown compared to the first five guys - in fact he's not even listed in the Rivals running back rankings for 2017 and doesn't have a star rating yet. However, the Buckeyes think Adarius Lemons out of Clearwarer Central Catholic is the best running back in the state of Florida - ahead of Anthony Davis, Kyshaun Bryan, and others. In the month of September alone, this under-the-radar stud has picked up offers from the home-state Florida Gators, Ohio State, and even That School Up North. This is a fast riser that the Buckeyes have been working on in South Florida.
