Saw three of the New Orleans Bucks at the Cavs game on Saturday, along with Myles Garrett and Odell Beckham...
Teddy has long been one of my favorites and is one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet. He married his HS gf and they have three kids living in the Charlotte area. His wife is such a great person and I loved talking to her about the decisions they deal with, namely splitting time between Charlotte and New Orleans during the school year. They love the Charlotte area, but being around dad during the season makes it more fun for everyone. She also talked about how much she loved some of my former teammates, including Anthony Gonzalez's mother who hugged her and consoled her when Ted broke his leg in the National Title game. Ted is just a great great kid and I was lucky to have him as a teammate.
Vonn has long been one of my favorites and was one of the initial huge gets from Georgia that has started a nice trend. Simply one of the best kids you will ever meet. I asked him how much he loved being a Buckeye and he said it is the greatest. He says there are Ohio State fans at every NFL game he plays in and they show nothing but love. I told all three of them they had the prototype college careers by playing great ball, going three and out, and getting paid. They all laughed and knew I was dead on.
Marshon looked phenomenal in person and looks like he was made in a lab. He was wearing a Weeknd hoody that reminded me to order some stuff from their Saturday drop and I told him about it. I also told him how much I loved Marcelys Jones when he was in high school and it is sad that kids can be so stupid about an opportunity. Both kids came from the same school and had the same opportunity. Marshon will never worry about anything again and Marcelys is just kind of floating through. Marcelys had serious serious talent, and his laziness and poor disposition canceled it all out. Sad though.
I was razzing the guys about enjoying practice on Tuesday (today) and they were laughing about how fast the offseason seems to go. OTAs are no joke, so these guys were already getting locked in.
In terms of Garrett and Odell, we just spoke briefly. Both seems pretty low key, and obviously Garrett is as impressive physically as anybody in the NFL. Odell looked slight, but he genuinely shocked me by reporting to OTAs despite no new deal and coming off the ankle injury. I am guessing he is doing what Antonio Brown did and operating in good faith to get the second deal done....
Hope you guys are having a great Tuesday! I added a kinda fun poll to this post. Who would you take? I'd go Garrett just to see him and Bosa operate together. What about you?
