COLUMBUS, Ohio—Chris Holtmann, head coach of the Ohio State men’s basketball team, announced the addition of C.J. Walker to the 2018-19 roster Monday.

Walker, a 6-foot-1-inch guard from Indianapolis, played the last two seasons at Florida State before electing to transfer to Ohio State. He will sit out the 2018-19 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules and will have two additional years of eligibility beginning with the 2019-20 season.

“We are excited about the addition of C.J. Walker to our program,” Holtmann said. “C.J. is a strong, competitive, experienced guard who has competed at a high level in high school and college. As we continue to build our roster, C.J. adds the ability and experience at the guard position we were looking for. We really look forward to working with him in his redshirt year in preparation for the 2019-20 season of play.”

As a sophomore with the Seminoles, Walker started 34 of 35 games. He averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and handed out 65 assists in just over 23 minutes per game of playing time. He also added 35 steals, shot 41 percent from the field (94-228) and 36 percent from 3-point range (39-110).

As a freshman in Tallahassee, Walker averaged just under five points a game in 33 appearances.

He posted a career-high 24 points at Rutgers Nov. 28, 2017 and reached double figures offensively 14 times in his career.

Walker, who earned FSU’s Mr. Hustle Award at its team banquet following this season, played high school basketball at Arsenal Technical in Indianapolis.
