Ohio State has just added another elite linebacker to its 2022 class in the form of in-state four-star Gabe Powers from Marysville. He will play opposite of 2022 four-star CJ Hicks in the future and the two players' skill sets complement one another well. Like the 2021 class, the '22 class is getting off to a very strong early start. Powers is the fourth commitment so far, all of whom are four stars. Powers and Hicks ar 6.0 four stars meaning they're on the cusp of five-star status.
The Buckeyes beat out that team up north for the services of Powers along with other Big Ten foes such as Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, and Wisconsin. A national recruit, Powers also held offers from California-based programs Stanford and USC as well as other national powers like Notre Dame and Florida State. All of that is irrelevant now, however, as Powers has chosen to stay home and strap on the pads for the Buckeyes.
