Ohio State continues to take control of he media cycle. I'd be interested to know if someone new took the reins here, b/c in the 21st Century up until last Friday the OSU Athletic Department performance with the media has been a resounding F-. Since last Friday A+.
ESPN has their OSU story as the last bullet in their headline list and it's a factual description of the situation with the Powell PD that we asked for and couldn't get access to all the records. This almost certainly help the literal truth of the matter and positions Powell PD as potentially culpable. Not good for them, but ok for OSU.
Yahoo has a poorly posed video at the lead with the misinformed oped that Urban answered that he was unaware of ACCUSATIONS, not the ARREST then the blah blah blah. Painful as this is, OSU fans need to stay calm. Best that the medial punch themselves out with this. This is the EASY part to debunk when OSU goes on offense.
The piece ends with the open question OSU MUST answer "Why did they hire Zach, knowing about his 2009 arrest, and then keep him employed in the face of all the accusations" Per Wetzel, the line of WR coaching candidates for OSU would be a mile long." I believe there is an angle here, and OSU needs to hit this out of the park.
Day 3 was quiet with a 1 minute blurb from Fbaum on the OSU parade for Urban. My OP yesterday highlighted that the parade was stupid and tone deaf and FBaum soberly pointed that out. He also made reference to CS as The Clear Victim here. He was right in saying that Urban isn't a victim, but I think his position sets up an Issue OSU will have to address.... likely through a 3rd party.
In this situation there may not be a clear victim, other than the Smith children. I suppose I'd add the OSU fan base who had to tolerate poor WR coaching for 6 years. (some sarcasm on here).
The public will want a clear villain.. hell this board wants Gene gone. Unfortunately for him.... Zach Smith is your guy. Sure Courtney is a loon.... But Zach is gonna go down hard, or I don't see this ending well for Urban.
I think Zach will be sacrificed and Urbs will be ok.... but I hope they have paperwork.
