Just traded a few quick texts with big-time 2017 safety Jeff Okudah out of Grand Prairie (TX) South Grand Prairie.
ESPN had put out something about Ohio State leading for the nation's No. 17 overall prospect and Jeff confirmed that the Buckeyes are in fact on top.
"Yes sir," Okudah confirmed. "Just think (Ohio State is) the best of both worlds with academic degree, networking, and football."
He plans to make another unofficial visit for the Michigan State game.
I have been cautiously optimistic about Ohio State's standing with arguably the nation's top safety prospect but this is certainly big news. Okudah had a great visit to Ohio State over the summer and clearly things haven't worn off from that trip. He remains right at the very top of the wish list, really regardless of position and making another trip to Columbus this fall would be huge.
"The plane tickets are already purchased."
Having seen Jeff in person, he is as impressive as it gets as a prospect and probably just as good of a kid off the field so this would be quite a coup for the Buckeyes if they can maintain the lead.
