The wide receiver board is....crowded. Very, very, very crowded. The Buckeyes have room to take quite a few receivers in the class, which helps. But there are just so many potential options right now and so many guys who are so close in ability, that it is really one of the more interesting things to follow with OSU recruiting right now in my opinion.

Even if you get really bold and say Ohio State will take five receivers in this class, that is still going to leave a few guys out in the cold that the Buckeyes either lead for or are at least a top 3 option for.

In two weekends, we may start to finally get some clarity on just how this is all going to shake out.

Ohio State will host its Friday Night Lights camp on June 22nd, moving it up about a month due to the various changes in the NCAA recruiting calendar. That will allow the Buckeyes to bring in official visitors that weekend around their big summer recruiting event.

And bring in official visitors they will.

At the wide receiver position, St. Louis area stars Marcus Washington and Jameson Williams are both expected to make official visits that weekend. So is Austin (Texas) Bowie star Elijah Higgins. All three players are in the Rivals250 after making big moves in the latest rankings update. Though that little fact is not particularly relevant to Ohio State's recruiting board, I'm told these three are similarly bunched with many inside the WHAC so separating one from another hasn't just been tough on the folks in charge of recruiting rankings.

So three of the top handful or so targets at the wide receiver position will all be on campus together for a summer official visit and all three of these guys have expressed a desire to, or at least an interest in, committing before their senior seasons.

But it gets even more complicated from there. Four-star Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central product David Bell tells me he plans to make an unofficial visit to Ohio State on Saturday June 23rd. So now FOUR of the top half dozen or so receiver targets will be on campus together at the same time and Bell, like the others, has been eyeing a decision before his senior season.

Handicapping Bell specifically has been tough because there has been what I would consider a great deal of inconsistency in Ohio State's pursuit of the four-star prospect. Ohio State was the childhood dream school for Bell, but Iowa and Purdue have been much more consistent in their pursuit and Penn State has picked things up there as well. Ohio State started slow and has picked things up recently, but was that simply to hold him off from committing elsewhere or is this a top of the board guy? Hard to say, my gut would say they're trying to stay in this one and prolong it as they try to figure everything out and evaluate guys at camps.

I believe the Buckeyes would take both of the St. Louis kids (Washington and Williams). I'm more confident in Washington's status than Williams', but if push comes to shove, I think they'd take both. Higgins' stock has been rising in recent months as well. Ohio State leads for Washington and Williams and I personally believe they lead for Higgins as well, though Stanford must be taken seriously there.

Then you have Rivals100 product Lance Wilhoite who visited and camped last week. I'm told Wilhoite made a really good impression with his performance and improved his standing in the eyes of the decision makers here. This is another prospect that I believe Ohio State leads for right now and yet another prospect that could make his choice before the season starts.

So stay tuned here these next two weeks. I think the dominoes are about to begin to fall here.
