A lot to still digest coming out of tonight's activities and of course with official visits just getting underway there will be a lot more to breakdown later in the weekend as well. But I wanted to get some quick thoughts up here that either may be time sensitive or just things that I feel that I need to get out there quickly before I start writing up the individual updates.

- First and foremost, the news of the night is the Dwan Mathis official visit. The Rivals100 quarterback out of Oak Park (Mich.) has been quietly pursued, along with Graham Mertz, over the past few months as the Buckeyes evaluated as many options as they could. While Mertz just reaffirmed, Mathis showed up on campus today and will be here through the weekend.

I certainly don't think Ohio State would have set this visit up, at this point on the calendar, if they weren't prepared to take Dwan and on the flip side, you have to wonder why Dwan would make this visit if he wasn't very serious about flipping to Ohio State. Mathis made a quick unofficial visit in May to Ohio State after the Columbus Rivals Camp, but that was a quick unofficial with some teammates after a camp that was just down the road.

This visit certainly seems different to me and it's very possible the Buckeyes could be closing in on a flip. But that is something that I will continue to monitor throughout the weekend.

- So what does Mathis mean for Brian Maurer. Maurer threw for the Buckeyes tonight and was not immediately offered on the spot. I talked to him after camp and he said he would be meeting with Urban Meyer and Ryan Day soon, perhaps tonight. I believe that meeting is actually going to take place tomorrow morning now.

If Maurer is not offered, you would have to think that is further evidence that Mathis could be close to a flip. But that is another thing that needs to be monitored tomorrow. I just don't think they'd offer Maurer though, at least not in the classical committable offer sense, with Mathis on campus if they felt they were in a good spot to flip Dwan so Maurer could be going home without an offer. Going to be fascinating to see how this unfolds here the next day or two.

- Spoke to a source tonight about 2020 Rivals100 quarterback Jack Miller. Was told Miller, "Did what he needed to do" both during the camp and in terms of just the whole off-the-field element that the staff is looking for in terms of demeanor, leadership qualities, etc. Sounds like Ohio State is fully sold. Combining that with @NevadaBuck 's post and it certainly looks like this is going to happen.

Miller will visit Alabama this weekend, but then an announcement should come shortly after that.

- Not one-hundred percent sure what the offer to Memphis (TN) Whitehaven TE Cormontae Hamilton means just yet. Hamilton visited during the spring and has been on the radar for a few months for the Buckeyes. With Brenton Strange visiting tomorrow with his mother, perhaps this is a move to try and get things wrapped up with Brenton this weekend. Still working on getting more information on the offer and how real things are there at this point.

- Brooklyn (NY) Christ the King DT Jared Harrison-Hunte was also offered tonight as we reported earlier. Jared was absolutely ecstatic about the offer and I think the Buckeyes are in the driver's seat there. But is he a take right now? Still working on all of that, but Harrison-Hunte told me he plans to take a couple of official visits, including one to Ohio State. So the Buckeyes may not have to even worry about that for at least a few months. As I said after the Rutgers camp, OSU was really intrigued with Jared, and for good reason. He is a physical specimen with a ton of upside, just needs to learn how to play football.

- Still no offer to 2020 running back Darvon Hubbard but Hubbard is supposed to talk with the coaches later this week. Could potentially come down at that time.
