I was talking to a buddy of mine that works in development in the athletic department at OSU, and he gave some interesting tidbits that I thought I would share. He said ever since the Oregon game, Ross Bjork and the staff are actively trying to find ways to increase fan engagement during our home games. He said that Bjork saw how engaged the fans were for all four quarters of the Oregon game, that he immediately went to drawing board to figure out what he could do to get that same experience at OSU. He also mentioned that our home games are flat and that our fans at the game treat it as if they’re watching the game at home on their couches. He also mentioned, that we have too many advertisements/commercials in between timeouts. So the plan is to alleviate some of those and add more fan engaging things to keep the fans on their feet. Also, he said that Gene was great. But he catered way too much to the donors and the “wine and cheese” crowd and he never evolved with the times. Lastly, he said all this is set into motion now but you won’t see a change until the next season. But he did say that the fans will be given rally towels for the ttun game this year.
