It was nice to see Ohio State get off to a hot start in this one.
- I thought McCord was good today despite going just 16/28. There were a few dangerous throws on the run, but overall he played well. His receivers didn't help him too much as there were way too many drops.
- I especially liked the one deep ball to Xavier Johnson that wasn't caught.
- Tough day for Marv. Solid stat line but some uncharacteristic bobbles and drops.
- Offensive line took a step in the right direction (especially w/ run blocking), but Josh Fryar's whiff on that strip sack was a terrible look. I certainly still have some big concerns here.
- I think Dallan Hayden helped the line. I somewhat understand why they want to redshirt (could lose three backs), but he certainly seems to find the hole better than the other guys.
- I admittedly didn't watch Hayden much in pass protection so I'm not sure how he looked doing that.
- I especially liked some of the counters.
- I didn't mind the Devin Brown package at all. Obviously you can't fumble going into the end zone like that, though.
- Loved seeing Tate and Inniss get some action.
- Minor gripe with regard to leaving Marv in the game as long as they did.
- Simon > Chambers right now and I don't think it's particularly close.
- Eichenberg was solid. Nice bounce back after a few rough outings.
- Tyleik Williams stock is really on the rise.
- Overall the DL was great and took advantage of a bad (and injured) Purdue OL.
- The defense kinda fell asleep on that final first-half drive. A blatant hold on Mike Hall wasn't called (per usual) and I have no idea why JT was out for most of the drive. They were immediately better when he came back in and Purdue didn't get any points.
- I didn't notice any real problems in the secondary. Igbinosun gave up the score on the slant but whatever.
- Denzel Burke was great again and I really hope that injury isn't serious.
- Jermaine Mathews brings some serious energy to the field every time he's in the game. He's also a terror on special teams.
- Too many dumb penalties on special teams. The punt downed at the 2-yard line was great, but this performance isn't going to help Parker Fleming's public image.
- The Peacock picture quality was great. Everything else sucked. The broadcast missed multiple plays and the announcers had zero enthusiasm.
