I have given things a lot of thought and have talked some with a couple of staff members here but ultimately the decision comes down to me how I want to handle this weekend in terms of a "game thread" versus a "live chat" and many "additional threads".
I have decided that we will bring back the game chat for the people that want the game chat. It probably will only be moderated by Ryan and myself but I will make it open to other mods to jump in there as well but I don't want to put all of our eggs in that one basket.
We will also set up a "game thread" that will be the official game thread. I cannot say that there will be constant back-and-forth with the mods in that thread since we will be looking at the live chat more than the thread. It will be there however for those who don't like live chats, don't know how to operate the live chat (though I really do welcome people into the chat, I like it a lot better than a static thread) etc..
As for "additional threads". I am instructing mods to not delete or merge threads on the condition that they pass up to this litmus test. The thread just needs to offer something to the board. Threads that are just "Look at me, I am all pissed off and USING ALL CAPS" will get deleted. If a player gets hurt and we need to have a side conversation about that because it would get lost in the main thread, I am totally cool with that. If there is something that just needs to be separate of a 25 page thread, I am okay with that as well. But as I said, if it is just an attention grabbing, pay attention to me thread with no real substance, it probably will go away because it is just is not benefiting the community.
I am posting my thoughts about this now, on a Wednesday, to get any last feedback from people here and have a couple of days to take everything into consideration, but as of now... this is where I stand in terms of how I would like to see game day run this week on a trial basis and go from there.
