"It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later."

Remember when I wrote those words not too long ago? It’s true.

Hello again to everyone at Scarlet and Gray Report! I’m thrilled to rejoin some familiar faces on the boards and contribute once more as an intern!

In case we haven’t met before, I’m Jacob Benge and I’m from Dayton, Ohio. I interned here previously in 2020-21, covering the Buckeyes on their run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game and navigating the first full year of the pandemic. I grew up playing baseball, following professional sports leagues and spending plenty of nights at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.

I just finished my third year at Ohio State. I’ve got one more year left to earn my journalism degree, but I’ve also picked up a communication dual-major along the way. I spent last season as the assistant sports editor at The Lantern, Ohio State’s student newspaper, and I’ve moved into the lead sports editor role that I’ll also hold for all of next academic year.

More of my previous stops have come at now-Guardians Baseball Insider, where I covered the Columbus Clippers last season, and The Associated Press, where I also currently serve as a freelancer and cover Ohio State men’s basketball home games — like the Buckeyes’ upset win over No. 1 Duke.

To say I’m excited to return to Rivals and Scarlet and Gray Report would be an understatement. I look forward to bringing you all more stories, more threads, more quotes, more conversation and more Buckeyes content.

Camp season is coming up, and you’ll see some content soon. But in the meantime, I just added another circle around Sept. 3.
