As they say, hindsight is 20/20. With that said, it is becoming more and more apparent that the Independent Investigation was a colossal failure.
1. It strayed far beyond its initial charge.... What was supposed to be a review on Whether Urban Meyer followed protocol, turned into a tabloid style investigation of Zach Smith.
2. The report provide details that will haunt Urban Meyer and OSU for months to come.... Conversations about text messages, Urban Meyer memory/health problems, ZS taking high school coaches to strip clubs will all be used to try and continue to bring OSU down.
3. Despite the investigation, the final decision did nothing to sway the public’s belief that OSU only cares about football... anything short of termination was never going to be enough.
4. The report was horribly written... it did not emphasize the key finds at all.
It appears OSU would have been better just suspending Meyer for 3 games from the jump. We would still be in the same spot with a lot less ammo for the likes of Brett McMurphy and his ilk to use.
