For whatever reason, ppl equate running the ball to being tough & passing the ball to be soft. Neither are correct. D1 football players are tough, plain and simple. You don't play this sport if you're not tough so there's no reason to prove it.

When Ryan Day was named interim HC in 2018, the thing that I always heard about him was that he was comfortable & confident with who he was. Then I heard that again when he was named Urban's successor. The Gattis comments about toughness in 2021 got to him & it feels like he's been trying to prove them wrong since then. Dude who cares???? Josh Gattis has been let go 2x since then and he's at Maryland now! You're the HC at OSU & you have elite QB's and WR's that are dreaming of playing for you bc of what you do in the passing game. LEAN INTO THAT!

"Michigan calls us soft" Sweet- here's a soft 400 in the air with 5 TD's.

"OSU isn't physical!" Awesome- JJ Smith just torched your secondary for the 3rd time today while Tate & Egbuka both have 80+ in the air.

"You need to run the ball in the Big 10!" Says who?? A bunch of old dudes that are clamoring for 3 yards and a cloud of dust? Kick rocks. You need to win in the Big 10. You win by playing to your strengths, not by trying to prove a point.

If Ryan Day wants to keep his job, I say he leans into being who he's always been. If that means that ppl call him soft for throwing the ball all the time, he should bring out the softest pillows and charmin toilet paper to the sidelines while throwing the ball to the best receivers in the country 40+ times a game.

I had a coach tell me something that I think applies to Ryan Day right now more than ever- "When it's nut-cutting time, you win or lose with what you do best. At least you can look at yourself in the mirror that way."
