the Fourth Wiseman of OSU football broke down the immediate impact that Beck had on the OSU offense....
"OSU self evaluates all this stuff post game---and much like the individual players are given a grade for carrying out there job, and doing it with proper technique----the coaches have a similar evaluation.
For the offensive staff it follows closely:
1) Did I have the proper offensive play called given the defensive formation?
2) Did the offensive play I called follow the script for down and distance?
3) Did I get the offensive play in within the allotted time?
What they found is that Beck was getting play calls down an average of 3.1 seconds faster than the previous week---and that the OSU offense was not only able to follow the script, they were able to set other things up as well(also according to the script)
In other words, Beck graded out a champion this week.
His biggest challenge is that he is still familiarizing himself with the terminology so he literally has to have somone right there with him as a "translator" to make sure the proper things are being communicated down to the field...
once he gets that down, they think they can go even faster---which is the ultimate goal....
was a solid first week for him for sure...."
