Okay some will dismiss this out of hand since it is a Fox interview, but it is an interesting interview on the short and long term issues with Iran and the ME. Clearly Iran is on the march, just like the Persia of old. There are ging to be MAJOR problems in the ME, involving America, and not involving America. But what is the likelihood that the ME is closing in on becoming a fireball in the next 20-50 years, if not sooner? Will the fanatical lunatics who have no problem blowing things up (including themselves) along with innocents, eventually touch it all off as nukes surely proliferate?
Do we just ignore it all and let them do god's will to each other, and probably America once they are done killing each other after a while and are bored again?
Do we negotiate with our friends and enemies to get the best deals possible, knowing that we likely won't be able to verify anything realistically, knowing what their plan REALLY is, indeed?
Do we attack and destroy them all while it is still a relatively easy kill, before the problem becomes completely unmanageable, and a global threat?
Do we secretly meet with the Russkies, Chinamen, Euro's, Aussies, and Japs .... and draw up a new world map that leaves the A-Rabs at the children's table in world matters?
Okay, some of this is "tic" but it is a real mess, that is likely unresolvable through diplomacy, and is steaming towards disaster. I realize we don't want to be committed within the eye of this storm, so probably the best route is to back our "friends" in their quest to destroy our mutual enemies? But even that will produce spheres, that will likely be at odds with other big "players" with strong interests also, from around the world ... like the Russkies and Chinamens.
Well, I guess we will just see how all this rides out .... should be good .... still a fan of spending our money on high tech solutions like ABM, sophisticated detection/tracking, targeting, communications, system protection/security, .... rather than boots on the ground. Let them duke & nuke it out, we destroy what's left, if necessary. However, if/when Iran gets nuke capability, the rest of the ME will follow quickly, and it is the proxy groups with suitcase nukes and dirty bombs which concern me the most, Iran's legacy. A great answer would be an internal revolution within Iran, if we could convince the population that we would be there for them, rain or shine .....
What a mess .....
