I have had interest in helping out our NIL efforts, even if on a small scale. I got started by first signing up for a monthly recurring donation at the Foundation. I thought I was helping the football team, so I was quite surprised when there was an announcement that the school was now only looking at the Foundation mainly for basketball.
I did donate to the 1870 Society as well, this time as a one-time donation. I don't know what I was expecting, but to me, I have no idea what the money is going towards. I also have no idea if the money has helped us at all. Has it helped us retain players who would've otherwise left? Have we gotten a recruit that we wouldn't have otherwise? How much money has been raised? Are we actually closing the gap with other schools like Miami, Auburn, etc.? While I want to help however I can, it seems weird that I don't even remotely have a clue what the answers are to those questions.
Is it too much to ask to have some transparency here? I would certainly be willing to donate more if I knew exactly what the money was going towards and whether it was actually helping to make a difference. Am I crazy here?
