Where do I begin?
As my internship here at BuckeyeGrove comes to a close, I think the words ‘THANK YOU’ should be the first thing I say in my ‘see-you-later’ post. This bunch of outstanding characters on the BuckeyeGrove boards have been some of the most intriguing, supportive boardmates there can be. Thank each and every one of you for giving my stories a read, engaging in conversation and providing your feedback. All of this is going to help me each day going forward!
So where am I going next? I’m honored to share that I've earned the Assistant Sports Editor position at The Lantern, The Ohio State University’s student-ran newspaper. I’ll just be starting my third year as a journalism student at Ohio State in the fall, so I’ve got a couple years left as a student, but what I’ve learned here about in-season coverage, writing for an audience and getting to cover the Buckeyes of all programs out there are several of the best takeaways I’ll have in my next stop.
I got the call from @Kevin_N a little over a year ago, and I was ecstatic yet nervous for what joining BuckeyeGrove would be like — add on what sports as a whole would look like as the COVID-19 pandemic raged on. But, Noon, @Griffin Strom, @Marcus_H and all of you on the boards took me under your wings and welcomed me in such a comfortable way. From the postponement of Big Ten athletics to the parents rally at Big Ten headquarters in Chicago to the national championship run to basketball season to covering baseball season, the leadership at BuckeyeGrove never wavered, and I learned so much and got to write some stories that I thought were pretty darn good reads.
Thank you all for keeping up with my coverage during football, basketball and, particularly, baseball season. If I can dream a bit, I’d love to wind up as a beat reporter covering an MLB team one day, so for Noon and BuckeyeGrove to allow me that shot to cover Buckeyes baseball this year was an invaluable opportunity.
I still plan to roam the boards from time to time and make sure all is well. Besides, someone has to keep Noon on his toes about those Dodgers *wink*. Lol, thank you all, take care and best of luck to those Buckeyes!
