With all the back and forth about "Cardale this...and JT that" - the "offensive woes" - "defensive struggles against the run" I think a lot of people are missing out on something really special.
I year ago on TOS I wrote a post about what I thought about the Penn State game. When nearly everyone was summarily trashing the offense, the play calling, the lack of discipline -- and wallowing in sorrow over obvious upcoming losses to MSU and maybe even Michigan - I wrote about what I saw. I wrote that what I had witnessed was a transformation.
Before that double overtime win at PSU last year this "team" was nothing more than a bunch of talented guys doing their own thing. I pointed out that I believed if we had gone back to earlier in the year or even back to the MSU and Clemson losses of 2013 - those earlier Buckeyes would have folded the tent and probably lost that game at PSU. But that bunch of guys became a TEAM in Happy Valley that day. For the first time in over a year they sucked up the adversity and refused to lose that game. And they and haven't lost since.
Under Urban Meyer we fans have really become spoiled. Expectation management isn't part of his job - but it should be ours. Should this talented squad win every game this season? Sure, you could argue that. Will they? Who knows? That's why they play the games right? And awesome games they will be!
We are the most blessed fan base in all of sports right now. We can get up every day and expect - with a high degree of certainty - that our team will win on Saturday. Who else can say that? We won the national championship and nobody is talking about rebuilding - not this year - and probably not next year either.
We are in the middle of watching a dynasty unfold right before our eyes. But when we win a game 38-0 or throttle an opponent by 26 while sleepwalking through a contest where we leave 3 TDs on the field we can't let ourselves enjoy the wins.
We all need to push back from the screen -- step away from the trees -- and soak up the magnificence of the forest that is our beloved Buckeyes.
It is absolutely awesome to be a Buckeye right now. It does not get any better than this - and I am soaking it up!!
