Here are the horrible pre-season picks:
6. Auburn. Now 3-2 (Their OT win over Jack. State was pretty much a 'loss' in voters' eyes as well ...).
7. Oregon. 3-3. Lost to Washington State. End of season; end of story.
8. USC. 3-2. Have ND, Utah, and no head coach the next two weeks.
9. Georgia. 4-2 already. Typical Richt fade-away jumper ...
15. Ariz. State. 4-2 (and at Utah Sat.)
The following is the WORST pick of the season thus far:
16. Georgia Tech: 2-4. Wins over Alcorn State and Tulane; have lost four in a row, and face 4-1 Pitt Sat.
18. Arkansas. 2-4. Absolutely dreadful.
24. Missouri. 4-2.
25. Tennessee. 3-3 (next game, at Alabama).
Wow. That's more than one-third of the pre-season top 25, already out of the picture. has the AP been that bad in recent years, only halfway through the season? Sure, some of the two-loss schools could still turn things around. But for now -- none of those nine are ranked, and only thee received any votes of any kind.
