I watched this video of Urban Meyer when he spoke about leadership at Ohio State for a Mississippi State clinic. I eat this stuff up!
So, is this the "next step" in player/program evolution? Nebraska broke through with weigh lifting, Miami in recruiting FL, and I know other programs have made their mark in college football development. Could this be the latest?
He states that little money and effort is spent on leadership training until his program did so last year. Is this that big of a difference maker? I think so.
Also, related to this...when people dismiss schools like Ohio State for being a "football factory," maybe they have it all wrong. How many regular students get the attention of their professors that these athletes get from their coaches? Very few. How many get exposed to this type of training? Maybe a few more, but not that many. How many get to shadow people in the professional world line these guys do? Not to the extent these guys do.
My point is that maybe being part of THIS football factory will do more for those student athletes in their life after college than those not part of it.
