There wasn't too much top end talent in attendance today at Raw Talent in Cleveland but definitely plenty of depth and D1 kids. The top three headliners there were 2017 WR Jaylen Harris of Cleveland Heights, 2017 RB DeCavilon Reese of Benedictine, and 2016 DB Tony Butler of St. Ed's.
Harris didn't take as many reps as I would have liked to see today, which is the second event in a row (Nike's The Opening regional was the first) this happened at. Apparently he had a little knee tweak going on is what I was hearing. In the limited reps he was taking though, he had a few impressive grabs. His body control and fluidity at 6-foot-5 is impressive if he can add a little suddenness and explosiveness to that as he gets used to the game, he's a hell of a prospect. Visits OSU this Saturday
DeCavilon Reese really impressed a lot of the college coaches in attendance, including Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford, who was giving some hands-on instruction to the RBs. He looks even better on the field in pads than he does in shorts and t-shirts at camps due to the strength he brings - one of the most violent runners I've seen in the state with some excellent weightroom numbers and functional strength. He'll be visiting Ohio State for camp in the next week, either the 16th or 19th.
Things have faded a bit with Tony Butler and I'll have an update on him tomorrow, but he looked good in limited reps as well. He tweaked his knee after about 5 or 6 reps into one-on-ones and couldn't plant right the rest of the way, but he looked very rangy and long in coverage prior to that and covered ground well. He's really lost any baby fat he had previously and is adding more muscle every time I see him.
Coaches from Michigan (Rick Finotti), Ohio State (Tony Alford), Minnesota, Indiana, Rutgers, Bowling Green, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, and more were in attendance for the camp.
