When looking at the number of draft picks from individual schools in any given year, OSU has done pretty well. In 2004, OSU had 14 players drafted, which is the most from any school in the past 40 years. Players drafted in that year (round drafted):
- DL Will Smith (1)
- DB Chris Gamble (1)
- WR Michael Jenkins (1)
- TE Ben Hartsock (3)
- DL Tim Anderson (3)
- P BJ Sander (3)
- DL Darrion Scott (3)
- OL Alex Stepanovich (4)
- DB Will Allen (4)
- QB Craig Krenzel (5)
- WR Drew Carter (5)
- LB Robert Reynolds (5)
- OL Shane Olivea (7)
- OL Adrien Clarke (7)
(DB Richard McNutt undrafted, career cut short due to injury)
In 2014, OSU had the arguably the most impressive draft class in model history when it had 12 players drafted, including 5 first rounders (1 short of Miami’s impressive count of 6 in the first round in 2004). All 12 players drafted were drafted in the first 4 rounds (not including transfer Noah Spence, drafted in the 2nd, or Tyvis Powell or Jalin Marshall, who both made rosters that year). Reminder of the epic class:
- DL Joey Bosa (1)
- RB Ezekiel Elliott (1)
- DB Eli Apple (1)
- OL Taylor Decker (1)
- LB Darron Lee (1)
- WR Michael Thomas (2)
- DB Vonn Bell (2)
- DL Adolphus Washington (3)
- WR Braxton Miller (3)
- TE Nick Vannett (3)
- LB Joshua Perry (4)
- QB Cardale Jones (4)

Bringing this forward to this upcoming class of phenomenal draft-eligible prospects. While admittedly optimistic, I’ll say this class will be sandwiched between the two aforementioned in terms of the count drafted. Projecting the below (saying that Haskins, Mack, Victor, Bowen and others will elect to go back to school).
- DL Nick Bosa, Jr [gone] (1)
- DL Dre’Mont Jones, RS Jr [gone] (2)
- WR Parris Campbell, RS Sr (3)
- OL Isaiah Prince, Sr (3)
- DB Kendall Sheffield, RS Jr [likely with big year] (3)
- DB Jordan Fuller, Jr [2 yr starter] (3)
- WR KJ Hill, RS Jr [likely/graduate] (4)
- RB Weber, RS Jr [gone] (4)
- OL Jordan, Jr [3 yr starter] (4)
- DB Arnette, RS Jr [likely/graduate] (5)
- DL Landers, RS Jr [maybe/graduate] (5)
- OL Malcolm Pridgeon, RS Sr (6)
- OL Meech Knox, RS Sr (7)
Potential Others (which highlights my conservatism):
- WR Johnnie Dixon
- WR Terry McLaurin
- LB Dante Booker
- OL Brady Taylor
That is a lot of underclassmen. This is our year so let’s enjoy it. Thanks for listening and let’s hear the critiques.
