OK - last TCU trip request...

Not sure why I have been so indecisive on this year's trip - guess it's because I know nothing about the area. The plan is to stay close to SMU's campus. We were thinking the following: The HIghland Dallas - http://www.thehighlanddallas.com/default-en.html

For a rookie - is this a good location? Any recommendations on "must do's" if staying in the area? Is the bar scene pretty good there (because besides the game - that is the most important item...)
