I have been a Buckeye fan since before I can remember. I remember watching the games on the OSU channel 32 I believe it was. They were more like a high school production and in black and white, fuzzy black and white. In 1963, my best friends brother-in-law somehow acquired a few of the Coca-Cola concessions under the west stands at Ohio Stadium for home games.
Well, of course, my 13-year-old best friend somehow got his self two other friends of ours and myself jobs working at a Coca-Cola stand underneath the stadium for every home game. I was in heaven!
The four of us sang barbershop quartet in school. As we sold Coca-Cola we would sing barbershop quartet songs. We would get huge crowds around us and Gov. Jim Rhodes would always stop by our Coke stand to hear a couple songs and buy a Coke from us kids. (We got paid by the number of Cokes we sold. We sang only if they bought a Coke from us. We always sold out.)
I never missed a home game in 1963 through 1967. Just short 10 days after graduation from high school I was on Paris Island, MCRD, Bootcamp. By December I was in Vietnam. This is the first time I've got to see a full game of the 68 super sophomores.
I sure hope you like it as much as I did. Jack Tatum was a Monster.
This video is a telecast, broadcast, and production of NBC. I claim no ownership of this material and do not profit from it in any way. This video is intended for historical and educational viewing purposes only.
Sorry, I was so excited to finish watching, I forgot.
Here it is.
