So, my 17 year old daughter fractured her kneecap last night, playing soccer. We can’t see an ortho doctor until Monday. The urgent care doctor says the fracture is “nondisplaced” (I suppose if you have a fracture, that’s the better one to have) but he doesn’t know if there is any ligament damage. He thinks she’ll need a cast or splint for 4-6 weeks. PT after that of course.

Given all the knowledge on this board, I’m sure there are some experts on the subject. I’m trying to gather information and am particularly curious about the typical recovery time and what the impact is on a person’s ability to eventually resume sporting activities. She’s particularly into running and snow boarding, obvious potential issues.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts about this.
