Will start remodeling an old house in Southern Ohio once the world starts getting back to normal.

1) Anyone have experience with geothermal heating / cooling? Want to try to "reduce our carbon footprint" but I'm not sure if the payback timeframe is worth it. 7-10 years payback doable but the one price quote I received was more like 7-10 decades.

2) Anyone have experience with cleaning / prepping / painting (changing the color) a 50+ year old clay tile roof? We don't see leaks in the attic so it may still be serviceable but the color is a no go. I've read online that painting / changing the color can be done but it seems like experience and knowledge of the proper products are key.

TIA and @Kevin_N please merge this with the other remodel thread if you see fit. I didn't want my unrelated questions to get missed with kitchen questions.
