So most people on here know from my other posts what's gone on with me over the past year. As mentioned last time I posted, I finally got a part time job in Orlando where I have been trying to work at for a while. A member of the club I used to work at offered me his condo he owns in Bay Hill Country Club for $2,000 as a short term place until I got settled in and started making money. No papers signed, nothing. We agreed it would be 2-3 months, then we'd revisit the issue after then (if I wanted to stay longer or move closer to work). I wrote him the check, and that was that. Thinking this would be great, wouldn't have to worry about any bills for 3 months, etc.
Well, until I walked into the place. It was like a show out of hoarders. There were boxes and shit everywhere. You can tell no one has lived there in a while, place was disgusting, roaches everywhere, you couldn't even walk into the bedrooms and bathroom without tripping over stuff. I knew within 5 minutes there was no way I could live here, and I pretty much had an emotional breakdown. So because it was 5pm on Friday, I frantically drove to Lake Nona to find an apartment I could move in that day, I texted the guy while signing papers this wasn't going to work, and I'll call him when I'm done. While signing he called me about 8 times, until I had enough excused myself from the leasing lady (it was well past closing at this point, and told him). Eventually got it, moved in, good to go on that front.
All of that was 2 weeks ago, I have been trying since then to get into contact with him about getting my 2k back. I desperately need that money as I can't afford rent in May without it. I haven't had the time to get a 2nd job yet as since it was my first 2 weeks at the job, I've been working a lot of strange and random hours that has made it hard to get a 2nd job. But now since the training and all that is over, I should be getting some sort of the regular hours and be able to get another job.
Long story short, is there anything else I can do to try to get my money back, or am I pretty much screwed if he keeps ignoring me? Like I said there was no lease agreement, any of that, was just a guy helping out a worker he liked (or at least, thought he did).
