Just like 2 seasons ago... The Penn State game at their place is gonna (most likely) be for all the marbles regarding Ohio State’s postseason chances.
Unfortunately, Penn State is in our division which means if they beat us, they would hold the tie breaker if they lost a game as well for the Big Ten East title, Big Ten Championship game and so on.
There is no way on earth the committee would vote a 1 loss no conference champ tOSU in over a 1 loss conference champ Penn State. They already did that once and won’t do it again. Especially considering that team got murdered by Clemson first round as well.
Now of course Penn State could drop 2 games out of having to still play Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Michigan...but realistically they probably lose one of those , if any.
With the Big being down this year, there is no more resume building wins that will hold significant clout other than Penn State. I don’t see Michigan still with only 1 loss when we play them.
A loss to TCU would have still given tOSU the chance to get in as a 1 loss Big Ten Champion. Since Penn State doesn’t, this game needs to be approached as a playoff game for tOSU.
