1. Posted earlier, but the biggest benefit of this hire is that is solves the problem of Warinner needing to call plays from the booth but being responsible for the OL.
2. Now, Warinner can fully focus on his OC duties and OSU has an OL coach on the field. And it doesn't require Warinner coaching QBs.
3. Studwara is a Meyer guy and has long been familiar with Meyer's offense. It is hard not to argue that trading Studwara for Hinton is not an upgrade for the offensive staff.
4. The move to bring in an OL coach -- rather than say, replace Warinner as OC or replace Beck as QB coach -- indicates that Meyer decided the offensive problems this season stemmed not from any scheme deficiencies or a lack of understanding of the passing game. Rather, Meyer clearly decided the problem was not having his OC in the booth calling plays and instead having a mis-match of Meyer and Warinner directing Beck from the sideline and Beck trying to implement. Based upon the last two games its hard to disagree with Meyer's assessment.
5. Remember, no matter who Meyer has on his offensive staff -- Herman, Warinner, Beck, Studwara -- they are there to implement Urban Meyer's offense -- not their own.
