1. I have the sense from watching and reading your posts that our priority, in this era of college football, is to stop the pass first and live with the other team running for 3 or 4 yds on 1st down against 6-man fronts, betting they can't do that all the way down the field. When we DO scheme to stop the run first – like against Wisconsin last year – we can do it, no problem.
2. The last two weeks we've gotten hurt by running QB's and zone read, not necessarily getting punched in the mouth up the middle. Our three toughest remaining games – PSU, MSU, UM – don't feature running QB's.
Are these reasons not to be alarmed? Basically I'm appealing to the board experts to contextualize what was, on the face of it, a disheartening performance by our run defense.
