From the Fourth Wiseman....

Very passing heavy scrimmage, they wanted to really challenge the offensive line and get a look at them, especially the tackles. O-line answered the call as they were outstanding. Pridgeon and Burrell both got dinged up, depth is an issue.

The defensive line really brought it the entire scrimmage and in waves, a lot of depth there, a lot of guys getting reps. But the offensive line held up pretty well. Isaiah Prince has a lot of talent but is having to grow up fast right now, he probably had the biggest reality check today on the offensive line.

No reps for Bosa today, bringing him along slowly. The rest of the young guys were given plenty of reps and given reps all over the lineup with the 1s, 2s, and 3s. A lot of valuable time today for those guys.

The defensive line was very good, but the star of the defense was definitely Malik Hooker. Nobody gets over the top of the defense on his side of the field. He had multiple interceptions, including a spectacular one-hander. Every 50/50 ball he seemed to intercept or knock down. It's hard to believe he didn't get any of Powell's reps last year. Schiano is over the moon about this guy....

Two true freshmen defensive backs had good days. Wayne Davis and Rodjay Burns both flashed. Burns even took some reps with the 1's at times.

The two true freshmen got a lot of work today at running back, seems like there is a cautious approach being taken with Samuel(got dinged a bit) and Weber with the lack of depth. Both Williams and McCall had some good moments today, McCall was at his best on screens and catching passes in the flats.

A lot of passing to the tight ends today. There is a ton of talent at that position and the young guys look ready to contribute if called upon. Jake Hausmann looks like someone who has been in the program for three years. Baugh looked ready for a breakout year--but has a slight injury coming out of practice that needs to be kept an eye on. If today was any indication, the tight ends will be a bigger part of the offense than they have in Meyer's time here. Ed calling the plays and being the TE certainly doesn't hurt.

Would like to have seen more out of the receivers although Noah Brown looked great. The tight ends and backs seemed to steal the show today in the passing game. AJ Alexander was very good though and Ben Victor flashed at times.

Sam Hubbard is going to have a monster year, he looks NFL ready right now, should be his last year in Columbus. Making the offensive tackles better every day trying to block this guy. He is likely the best edge guy they'll see all year...

JT Barrett will be at the Heisman ceremony in NYC this year...mark it down...."

more to come...
