Over the weekend, I watched a few minutes of OSU's national championship win over Oregon from a few years ago. As you all remember, that season featured a young Zeke Elliott becoming a star on the national stage as a sophomore. Just in a few minutes of game highlights, I was reminded of some runs that only Zeke could make. And now, we see him as a top 2 or 3 back in the NFL, along with Gurley and very few others.
So it got me to thinking... Weber (high school All American and highly productive college talent) is off to the NFL. We probably have 1 more season of Dobbins to enjoy. He came in with huge expectations and by most accounts has lived up to them.
Are we about to see the wave crash a bit in terms of RB talent in Columbus? Master Teague looks really solid. He could be a good one. Snead may not even be with the program next year. I'm not sure what's going on with him. And then recruiting brings us Crowley, who from I can gather is very talented but maybe not quite at the level of Elliott/Weber/Dobbins (I realize none of these guys are on Zeke's level).
2020 will bring us Hubbard and likely 1 more back. I'm not panicked whatsoever, but I think OSU's heritage of great rushing attacks should mean a constant flow of talent at the position. Georgia and Alabama are reloading every year with phenomenal tailbacks. I certainly hope we don't feel the effects of a slight drop off in talent at the position in the upcoming years.
