No matter what happens or is reported incorrectly, sports writers will circle the wagons and have their colleagues back.
Think back to Marv Albert and the wild sex claims against him. Media had his back and didn’t report the story much. Right now they will make this out to be a rabid fan base obsessed with winning over doing the right thing or a woman’s safety. They will continue to pile on and attack the credibility, morals and ethics of Meyer, Smith, OSU and big time college athletics. But not one person will publically shed doubt about McMurphy. This is because to be honest most journalists who are on TV aren’t about the athletes or love sports. They are there for the big bucks and fame.
Today is more of a “if it bleeds it leads mentality”. I expect McMurphy or someone else to come with another “bomb” today damning OSU. I’m waiting for the “At Florida Urban allowed a culture of .....”.
I would love for the local media to get off their collectives asses and do some investigating or maybe just get a copy of the Powell police report. Or talk to an officer who will give them anonymously the truth behind that incident.
Once again this is ridiculous that Meyer is getting torched because he lied to the media in their opinion. But he has documentation that shows he reported this incident and since there was no arrest this wasn’t a fireable offense.
