As some who've been on the board for a while know, I usually post a pre-game analysis on how I think the upcoming game will play out and key strategies and then recap for how we did. My objective is to keep it fun and informative.

Evidently, the virus conspired against me so I missed the pre-game and I'm really gonna miss the rest of the season.

First and foremost I want to than Kevin. He has been beyond fantastic throughout this off season, and now non-season, of Covid. The virus sucks and I'm sorry to say the behavior on some of the members in the community has mirrored the virus.

I never had the oppty to post pre-season, but the gist of my pre-season was that the B10 was doing all the right things to limit the season to league only, add bye weeks etc etc. IMO they were doing all the right things to keep the season on.

With all that I was realistic that the season would have been muted at best. No tailgating, limited (probably no attendance). But dammit half a glass is better than none... and with all the limitations there was always the specter that shit would happen and the season would get called off.

I predicted they'd get through fall camp and game 1, and then collect the data and move one way or the other.

I was wrong.

What I didn't' count on was a small group of P12 kids taking the initiative to make an ultimatum to their league office. How much of a role this played, I don't know. But it raised two ugly issues. What if a kid gets the disease and it's serious with long term medical cost, and oh by the way the kids who are taking this risk aren't getting paid so while we're at it lets start with some revenue sharing. The second is far more problematic than the first but they are linked.

A solid analysis of their demands is here https://247sports.com/college/ucla/...tors-of-the-Pac-12-Players-Demands-149810509/

My gut says this raised the issues, and either way those are issues and they are valid. Now they won't go away after the virus is under control, b/c the kids could still get injured and they aren't getting paid. And the administrators and NCAA are going to have to deal with it, and it could have profound and negative implications for the game as we know it.

But the middle of a pandemic is the wrong time to sort them out, and if a kid got severely sick it would have forced their hand. And on those grounds I understand the call.

It's like running Dave at the end of the game when we needed Holy Buckeye, but the coach saw that his QB was rattled and decided to take the loss and try and save the season.

I still think playing through camp and game 1 would have been a better play call. build in a two week bye for all teams across the board to see how it worked, collect the data and then go game by game.

But as it is with my game posts, it's a lot easier to make those calls from my armchair.

Keep the Faith... and stay on the site. Go Bucks!!!
