After rewatching the game, I think it’s pretty obvious that OSU actually doesn’t have a big grouping of roughly similar running backs and wide receivers. In fact a pretty obvious hierarchy is emerging.

For the receivers-all around receivers top tier of 3
1.KJ Hill is now the man. He catches everything, runs good routes, is great underneath and decent enough on the outside one versus one.

2.Dixon-similar to Hill-although not as strong a hands or good underneath as Hill but a better deep threat.

3. Mclarin-similar to the above two but a little bit less dangerous than the others.

Then there is the bottom 3 enigma group

1. Mack-best of this lot. Best route runner, deep threat, should be elite and arguably the best receiver on the roster but those hands are a work in progress.

2. Campbell- needs touches in ways that aren’t purely as receiver. But his hands and route running are meh.

3. Victor-the least interesting of the 6. Sloppy route runner, lousy hands, awful in tight spaces but he is an elite athlete so there is that.

Running backs-
1. Dobins is a clear number one. He is a drastically superior back in the first ten yards. Sorry but Webber doesn’t have his vision, decisiveness, or break tackle ability within the scrum.

2. Weber-wonderful open field threat, can easily House it if there’s space. But he doesn’t read holes like Dobins. He can get really mechanical when the run game isn’t in a totally dominant footing.

I hope the staff takes notice that Hill, Dixon, McClarin, Dobins need more reps over their counterparts at Penn State. Not all OSU skill position players are equals. The hierarchy is real.
