Just taking a quick look here at the in-coming freshmen, starting with the offensive skill positions (QB's, backs and receivers). Any thoughts on who redshirts and who plays?
I'll take my stab...
Plays:
Mike Weber - There will be some early blowouts, Samuel is getting more run at the H and Weber is college ready. I think he'll get some mop up duty and maybe even a series here and there with the starters. The need to groom the next guy after Zeke (he gone) will get Mike and Brionte Dunn plenty of looks this fall in my opinion and there's no point in redshirting Mike and putting him in the same class as Walker.
KJ Hill - There are a lot of experienced WR's returning but Hill has versatility in that he can lineup just about anywhere in this offense and could also make an impact on special teams. Think they'll get his clock started this fall.
Torrance Gibson - Probably the most debated guy, not just in this group, but possibly of the entire incoming freshman class. I certainly understand the arguments for him redshirting and I don't really disagree with any of them but ultimately to keep him engaged, to separate him and Burrow by a year, and because of some of the things he brings to the table that Burrow doesn't (WR capabilities, trick plays) I think Torrance finds his way onto the field this fall.
Redshirts:
Alex Stump - Coming off an injury and with a lot of experienced guys in front of him, I don't see him playing this year unless they burn it on special teams.
AJ Alexander - Similar to Stump but coming off a more severe injury. Think Vannett and Baugh will handle all of the TE duties barring injury.
Joe Burrow - No real purpose in playing him this fall. Three experienced guys back.
Rashod Berry could be a TE or a DE, either way he'll probably redshirt too.
