Alcohol is a killer, and on a massive scale. It kills far more people than opiates, yet we glorify its consumption, advertise it everywhere, and allow virtually unfettered access to it in convenience stores, liquor stores, groceries, restaurants, bars, sports venues, etc.

The number of alcohol related deaths in the US has doubled over the last 20 years, and researchers believe that number is understated. Alcohol deaths have DOUBLED in 20 years?!?! Holy crap - we've got an alcohol epidemic! Where is the outcry from our "public safety" anti-legalization zealots???

If only there was a much safer alternative to alcohol that consumers could substitute in its place. And when I say "much safer," I mean, "MUCH SAFER!" - like over 100 times less deadly.

Oh wait, there is such a substitute - marijuana. Unfortunately, the anti-legalization crowd wants to block the ability of adults to access this much safer alternative. Surely, they have well-reasoned arguments to support such an absurd position. If history is any indication, however, they'll avoid this topic like many others related to the subject that they conveniently avoid.

I know I drink less alcohol when I have access to cannabis. I'm sure others might do the same. That seems like it would be in the best interest of the individual, of their friends/family, and of society as a whole.

With less alcohol being consumed, there will be fewer deaths. Why would anti-legalization zealots favor a system that produces more death

Can you imagine the outcry if marijuana killed 88,000 people per year, including 6 people per day who directly overdosed?! @osu68 and @tIUguy2 would be on here posting report after report calling for Trump to send in the National Guard to shut down and seize the assets of the entire industry. Like I've said many times before, they have zero intellectual integrity...

As bad as alcohol is for the individual and society I do not favor alcohol prohibition - just as I do not favor prohibition for the much safer alternative, marijuana. For whatever reason the local tools are down with deadly alcohol but have an irrational hangup with cannabis. I've yet to hear a single valid reason for such an absurd position. That likely won't change, but I'll continue to wait.
