Ricks told Ed O he’s going into the portal this past weekend and heading to Ohio State. He has not talked to anyone at the Buckeyes to my knowledge because that would be tampering but Ohio State was the one and only destination. He even had graphics mocked up for him in OSU gear for his eventual announcement.
Why? He liked Ohio State a ton down the stretch of his recruitment and thought of going there many times. He wants to play for a national title. He seems the Buckeyes putting DBs into the first round. And he feels a bit overshadowed as DB2 at LSU. These are all legit reasons confirmed by multiple sources.
His mom moved to Baton Rouge and is against a transfer but he was determined to do it anyhow at the end of last week. However, he did not jump in the portal. He’s currently enrolled at LSU for this semester but is not practicing as he’s recovering from shoulder surgery. As of today nothing is new. The fact he didn’t jump in the portal is good for LSU and not Ohio State. The longer it goes the more likely he stays. And to be honest I think he stays. Moms usually win in these situations although she’s a realtor and moving is never a big deal.
He had a great year at LSU as a freshmen but was overlooked for many awards and such. That’s part of this. He feels at OSU he would be a star. And he would be.
I have no idea what’s next for him. My assumption is if he stays at LSU he will publicly deny everything which makes sense but this is well known by so many people in CFB that it’s too legit to ignore.
