What's left?

Here's the question. I asked after the SCOTUS gay rights ruling, what's left? What are the liberal causes and who is advancing them? There really don't seem to any that the left is really advancing. I mean, our society has accepted that our climate is suffering from man-made global warming, the income gap is not good for us, and we now don't consider gay people as second-class citizens, but as deserving of all rights and privileges that belong to any US citizen. All the "liberal" causes have moved into the mainstream. They're accepted and maybe that's the source of such right wing anger. These issues are part of the core beliefs of the approximately forty-something percent that still make up the middle of our country. We will not go back on the major progressive accomplishments, never have and never will. The EPA, Obamacare, gay rights, medicare, social security, welfare, women rights, progressive tax structure, and such are here to stay and not going anywhere. I suppose you could say immigration policy, but that's a smoke screen or maybe that's the main thing left. We have a poster on here that likes to title everything "from the center," which while humorous, is actually a silly attempt to marginalize the actual center. It doesn't work. Other posters like to attack moderate and centrists sources as liberal because they just can't wrap their brains around the idea that these progressive ideas are now accepted centrist beliefs. The other day, Gallup reported more self-identifying liberals than conservatives in our country. I doubt it. I just think being labeled a liberal is more acceptable than being identified as a conservative. It's easy for them to claim liberalism when there are very few controversial movements left within the movement and today being labeled a conservative carries a negative connotation. I suspect it's not that these surveyed people are liberal so much as anti-conservative and reacting to the extremism of the far right.
