I have stated on this board before that my wife and I adopted 2 new-born children from different birth mothers about 4 years apart. Both of those birth mothers were 15 years old at the time they gave birth and gave up their infants.
Well, earlier this year, our daughter, who was 17, told her mother and me that she was pregnant, from her boyfriend of 4 years. Many what-nows? immediately went through my mind but my daughter immediately brought those to an end when she declared that she wanted to keep the baby. She did not want to put it up for adoption, or, anything else. Well, she had our blessing for sure. She now lives with her boyfriend who helps care for the baby when he is not working. It has worked out really well. They are struggling financially, as expected, but they all seem happy.
But, the best thing as far as I am concerned, is that I will have my first Christmas as a 'grandpa', and I can dote on my new grandson. I had forgotten how fun buying kids' gifts could be. In fact, I feel like a kid again.
Good times.
